Prasadam: PULIHORA   

                        
 

recipe by: Swa:thi Mudumbai, Hyderabad.

Ingredients:                   1. Love for Govinda

                                     2. Rice

                                     3. Tamarind

                                     4. Mustard seeds

                                     5. Red chillies

                                     6. Jeera

                                  7. Bengal gram

                                  8. Ground nut seeds

                                   9. Asafoetia powder

                                  10. Oil

                                  11. Salt

                                 12. Curry leaves

                                 13. Turmeric powder  

Quantities (For 15 persons):     

    

                                     1 kg of rice

                                     150gms of Tamarind

                                     200gms of Mustard seeds

                                     10 Red chillies

                                     10gms of Jeera

                                     10gms Bengal gram

                                     20gms of Ground nut seeds

                                     ¼ Tea spoon full Asafoetia powder

                                     200ml of Oil

                                     6 tea spoons of Salt

                                     1 bunch of Curry leaves

                                     ½ tea spoon full of Turmeric powder  

Procedure:             

                          Soak tamarind in minimum quantity of water for ½ an hour. Make thick lianid. Add curry leaves and half of turmeric powder and salt. Boil the mix for 5 minutes. Soak rice in 2 ½ times water for 15 minutes. Cook on low flame to make rice. Keep it aside for 10 minutes. Then spread the rice in a wide plate. Add the tamarind liquid and mix thoroughly. Heat oil gently on low flame. Add mustard seeds, red chillies, jeera, bengal gram, ground nuts, asafoetia powder and the remaining turmeric powder. Heat for 1 minute. Add the oil mix to rice and mix thoroughly.
