Mung bean Or Green Gram 2 Table Spoon
Ghee 4 Table Spoons
Asofetida a pinch
Salt to taste
Cumins A pinch
Black Pepper powder 1 tea Spoon

Procedure:

The procedure is almost same like normal venpongal. Except for the fact that green gram is used instead of split moong dal. Cook the rice well so that it can me smashed well. Cook green gram also separately, in such a way that, it also can be smashed to almost a paste form. This green skin of it gives a light gray-green colour to the pongal. Finally mix cooked rice and greengram well and smash it to a single mixture along with salt. In a pan in low flame heat the ghee and add asafetida, cumins and black pepper powder. Immediately add the rice gram mixture, turn off the flame and mix it very well. The more the ghee is, the more good pongal is. Offer to lord and enjoy.
