A brief report on HH Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji’s trip to US in 2008 Reported by: Sri:man Kalya:n Ra:po:lu, Pennsylvania July 8, 2008 Sri Swamiji blessed the land of US by keeping His foot in this country on July 3, 2008 in New Jersey. Lord Sri Sita Ramachandra Perumal and Swamiji along with His disciples landed at 4.30 am on July 3, 2008. Many devotees have reached to New Jersey airport to offer a hearty welcome to Swamiji. Swamiji along with His devotees reached Srima:n Sarma Allakiji’s house at around 7.30 am. Swamiji talked with devotees for one hour and then went in for doing rituals for worship. Theertha Goshti started at 10.45 am on that day where Swamiji along with other devotees sang hymns of praise to Lord Sri Sita Ramachandra Perumal. Swamiji distributed the sacred water (Theertham) to all the devotees.
After Theertha Goshti, wonderful Ra:ja Bhogam (lunch) was served to all the devotees who were present on that day. The main purpose of Swamiji’s visit to US is to give a keynote speech in American Telugu Association (ATA)’s conference in Newark, New Jersey on July 4, 2008. Swamiji attended that conference at 10 am and gave a wonderful short lecture on the significance of Telugu language and its relation with Vedic tradition. On 4th July, Independence Day of America, Jagannath Ratha Yathra day, the most auspicious day, HH Sri Swamiji blessed the ATA conference with the key note address. Audiences were enchanted at HH Sri Swamiji's talk on the importance of Telugu and the unique amicability of Telugu people. HH said Telugu tongue can speak any language very easily with the natural accent, which is not the case with the other languages. Sri Swamiji said that conferences such as ATA should help educate and encourage the youth to understand the culture of India that has Spirituality as its inner value. If that inner value is not recognized then any outer development will not lead to achieve the best in one's life. Telugu language is very near to the Vedic language and it is only language that is protecting the rules of Vedic system. Also it is the Telugu people who are protecting the Vedic culture in its original way. The highly scientific way of Vedic system is greatly promoted by the Telugu practices and basically the language. HH said that Telugu people have two great qualities which the west has already recognized viz., sincerity and hardworking for the actual purpose.
July 5, 2008: The day started with a rain which resembled the shower of mercy of our Swamiji on us. At 8 am the Seva:ka:lam (worshipping the Lord) started with Thirupallandu, Thiruppalliyezhuchchi and Thiruppavai.
After that Theertha Goshti was done by Swamiji. After taking ba:la bhogam (breakfast), JET USA board meeting commenced with the introductory slokas from Isava:sya Upanishad by our Swamiji. Swamiji explained the meaning of the first two slokas and gave a wonderful description of the activities and objectives of JET USA. All the devotees were amazed to know the services being done by JET USA to humanity on various occasions.
Swamiji insisted on the importance of earning money with sincerity and honesty. HH explained the greatness of our Purva Acharyas and how they contributed to the glory of Sri Vaishnava tradition. Swamiji explained a brief story from the history of Bhagavad Ramanuja to explain the importance of accepting money which was earned through righteous means. After the meeting, wonderful prasadam was offered to all the devotees. Acharya Thiruvadigale Saranam Jai Srimannarayana! |
