Activities:
From the day the a:sramam was established, Ashta:kshari ho:mam is being performed everyday without any breaks. No matter how worse the weather is or whatever be the circumstances, the homam never stops. It is like a second Badrinath. The power and vibrations of the mantra are spread throughout this holy land and it brings both material and spiritual happiness for the visitors. The vibrations can be felt as we enter the ashramam, primarily by the peace of mind we obtain.
Sri:manna:ra:yana Tapo:vanam, located on the premises of the asramam, satisfies the needs of people who want peace and quiet for meditation and parayanas(chanting Lord's names). Tapo:vanam recreates the feeling of Gurukuls of the past. It is started in the year 2003, and is successfully being maintained since then.
To preserve our Vedas, Sri Swa:miji runs a vedic school, ‘Saranya Veda Patasa:la’ in the ashramam with 40 students currently. Students of the vedic school are home schooled with the current state government education. Older students are provided access to college education.
The a:sramam conducts various social welfare activities. Sri Swa:miji strongly believes that every person should be able to help his fellow human being and the society. The real meaning of being spiritual is to be able to help one’s neighbour. Such people will be loved by God dearly. With this motto in mind, the a:sramam has bought an ambulance to help the small villages located around the a:sramam. These people have limited access to quick transport, so an ambulance is of great help to them. Along with this, medical camps and eye camps are held in the ashramam on every Sunday evening. People from the nearby villages can come and see the doctor for free of charge. This program has received great appreciation and proved to be very convenient for the villagers.
The a:sramam also provides services to crippled people by offering them freshly cooked meals, place to stay and clothing on a few occasions. ‘Pra:nahitha’ is a project for homeless old aged women. The activities under this project are similar to that of an old age home. The ashramam is actively involved in the community. It has taken up a library and is responsible for developing and maintenance.
Sri Swa:miji has recently published a spiritual diary. Many of us lead a spiritual life but most of the time, we are not sure where we stand. This diary has been designed for self-reflection and correction or to improve ourselves further. This diary need not be started on the first day of the year, but instead we can start whenever we feel ready. Sri Swa:miji mentioned that we need to be true to ourselves while writing in this diary. It has questions about how much time we allot to prayer and God, did we do anything wrong during this day, have we made any efforts to correct our mistakes, have we spent any time gossiping, etc. This spiritual diary is available for purchase currently from the ‘Jeeyar Swami’s Karyalam’ currently.
Upcoming Programs: HH Sri Tridandi SriRanga Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji will be performing Dhanurmasam at the ashramam this year, starting on Dec 16th.
