In accordance with the divine orders of Lord Periya Peruma:l of Sri:rangam , in the year 1992 , the maha:sudharshana yaga( a great vedic ritual) was initiated in Vijayawada , Andhra Pradesh. The 108th ritual was performed in Sri:rangam in the year 1998. The preceptors and learned scholars at Sri:rangam suggested the continuance of this ritual. After travelling through various regions for the past nine years, 1007 such rituals were performed at different places.

The 1008th ritual will be performed in Brinda:van which will the culmination of another series of such holy rites . In such rituals the chant of "krushNa:ya go:vinda:ya go:pijana vallabha:ya" is done. It is quite fitting that the 1008th ritual is done in Brindavan , the holy place of Lord KrushNa.
