Report on Thiruallikeni Sri TNC Parthasarathy Iyenger Svami's Sathabisheka Mahotsavam 21st till 25th Aug 2008

Most of you don't need introduction to Ashtagothram Sri Tirumalai Nallan Chakravarthy Parthasarathy Iyenger of thiru-alli-keni (triplicane). He has been Parthasarathy temple Adhyabaga gosti member for more than 55 years and had adorned the secretary post of Sri
Parthasarathy svami temple Veda adhyabaga gosti for about the same time. He is also the secretary of Udayavar(Ramanuja) kainkarya sabha rendering kainkaryams to svami Ramanuja in thiru-alli-keni. He turned 80 recently and it was celebrated as mahotsavam in Thiruvallikeni with full temple honors. If one asks about his notable achievement other than innumerable kainkaryams to perumal azvar and acharyas, a thiruvallikeni vasi would say "he has taught innumerable srivaishnavas the whole 4000 dhivya prabhandam" which is chanted thought out the year in sri parthasarathy temple aptly called "Arulicheyal Mandapam". adiyen is grand son of our svami and was blessed to to participate in this function and happened to take some pictures which I would like to share with you all. The first three days of the function was held at our kudil and the last two at mandapam. Thiruvallikeni srivaishnavas and many other dhivya desam srivaishnavas had come in scores to celebrate this occasion.

Since it was held 5 days the temple honors were split into 5 (From five perumals) in the order Sri Mannathan (ranganatha), Sri Ramar, Sri VaradhaRajar, Sri Thelliya singar and on the final day with temple paraphernalia (two kudai, two samaram, thiruvanbhandam, brahma
thaalam, vaadhyam) Sri parthasarathy perumals honors came to the function hall. Many other temples where svami served perumal sent due honors to our svami. I have given caption in the photos so that the viewers understand.

The function was held for 5 days across 9 velais(sessions). the naalayira dhivya prabhandam in entirety, Saptha kaanda Yajur vedha parayanam, Ithihasa patanam, Vyakyana patanam and Stotra pada gosti were held. It is a tradition in thiruvallikeni, that in thirumaaligai ceremonies the naalayira dhivya prabhanda kramam is chanted in the following way (Muthalaayiram, irandamayiram(Periya thirumozhi), Moonram aayiram(Iyarpa) and thiruvaimozhi, Iramanusa nootranthathi and Upadesa ratnamalai). Yajur vedha parayanam was completed in 5 long sessions. on all the days grand thadiyaradhanam was organized for all the srivaishnavas. on special paasurams various thiru amudhus were prepared as is custom in sri Parthasarathy temple ( for example Vipperu vizaavum paasuram thodakkam.. Sakkarai pongal is the thiru amudhu).

First day 21st Aug: Session 1: Started with thiruppallandu thodakkam and Periyazvar thirumozi sattrumurai. and in the session 2 in the eveing started with thiruppavai nachiyar thirumozhi till kanninunchiruthaambu. The second session went on till about 9:30 in the night.

Second day 22nd Aug: Session 1: Periya Thirumozhi thodakkam first 400 paasurams were chanted. Session 2 in the evening another 400 paasurams were chanted.

Third day 23rd Aug: Session 1: the Final paasurams of Periya thirumozhi, thirukurunthandakam, thiru Nedum thandakam, Muthal., Irandam and Moonram thiruvanthathi were chanted and Moonram Thiruvanthathi (Stala Azvar) sattrumurai. Session 2 Starting from Nanmukan thiruvanthathi... till Periya thirumadal sattrumurai(Iyarppa Sattrumurai).

Fourth day 24th Aug: Session 1 Thriruvaimozhi thodakkam 600 paasurams of thiruvaimozhi was chanted and "ulagamunda peruvaaya " saattrumurai. In evening there was a souvenir release and a vidvat sadas comprising of renowned scholars (Sri U.Ve velukkudi Krishnan svami, Sri U.Ve VV Ramanujam Svami, Sri U.ve DrMA Venkata krishnan svami, and Sri U.Ve KB Devarajan svami ) lectured on the topics "Nam perumal, Nam Azvar, Nam Jeeyar and Nam Pillai". In the function malar thiruvaradhana Kramam by both jeeyars(Sri Ramanuja and Sri Manavalamamunikal) nithyam and Jeeyar Padi was released. Advocate Sri Ramasamy Iyengar released the book and Dr. U.Ve Manavalan Svami received the book. Incidentally during our svamis 60th birthday celebrations Sri U.Ve.Velukkudi Varadacharyar svami had given upanyasam on the title "Namperumal". Session 2 the next 300 paasurams of thriuvaimozhi was chanted (Maalai nanni Sattrumurai). shortly i will make the copies available on the web (will scan the book and put it in the web)

Fifth Day Morning: Final Centum of thiruvaimozhi, iramanusa nootranthathi and Upadesa ratna malai were chanted. Udaka santhi parayanam, ayshomam, Yajurvedha parayanam sattru, kanakabishekam was done. Then grand sattrumurai of Veda Ithihasam,stotra padam and dhivya prabhandam took place. Azvar Emperumanaar Jeeyar and asmad aacharya sambavanai were offered.Then Thiruvallikeni Parthasarathy temple Devastana maryadhai came along with temple parapherneila. It was welcomed at the door by Sri TNC Rangarajan Svami and Sri TNC Narasimhan Svami, mangala harathi to the maryathai was done by Sri Parthasarathy Bhattar svami. First Sriparthasarathy Svami's honor was rendered to namsvami chanting Vipperu vizavum paasuram, District Commissioner of the temple gave thevastra maryathai of parthasarathy emperumaan and Sri Sarathy Bhattar the garland worn by Sri Parthasarathy (Incidentally the one who wore the garland was Parthasarathy (Perumal), the one who put the Garland was Parthasarathy (Bhattar) and one who got the garland was also Parthasarathy (nam svami)) then various Dhviyadesam Maryadhai honors were rendered on to our svami starting from ThiruArangam, Thirumala, Kanchi, ...till local temple chindadripettai chanting various sannidhi paasurams. do look in the picture for the list.  with perumal azvar Acharya bagavata blessing the function went on nirvignam, and was a wonderful experience to see when all the machinery worked together to make this function a grand success. It wasnt a family affair, all the thiruvallikeni srivaishnavas adhyabagas, temple kainkarya paras, bagavatas held this function as their own family function and it was simply wonderful.
