HYDERABAD: It was an altogether a different day for inmates of the Cherlapally Central Jail on Tuesday. The Tridandi Chinna Sreemannarayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swami visited the jail to bless the 200-odd inmates who took up ‘Sri Venkateswara Sharanagati Deeksha’ (penance).

The swami, delivering a discourse, said spirituality would bring in peace for mankind. He urged the prison inmates to follow the principles of Bhagavad Gita.

Later, noted musician Sriman Ramacharya rendered ‘bhajans’ and distributed ‘prasadams’.

To mark the occasion, 1,000 lamps were lit on the jail premises by the inmates and members of ‘Vikasatarangani’
