HH Sri Chinna Srimannarayana Jeeyar Swamiji's Campain to create awareness about breast cancer among people hits news in US media. Reported by: Sri:ma:n Raghu Mudumbai, IL, US
NWA News, a local US news agency, recognises the efforts undertaken by HH Sri Sri Chinna Srimanna:ra:yana Jeeyar Swa:miji to create awareness among general public in rural parts of andhra Pradesh about breast cancer. Swa:miji with the association of NRI doctors took the intiative to engage the social service wing founded by Sri Swa:miji, Vika:sa Tharangini, in this noble work. Medical vans equipped with all the paraphernalia (screenings, mobile mammograms and education literature) to do the check up for breast cancer, and medical staff travelled all across the warangal district rural areas and have educated people about the disease. They tested many poor villagers with suspected tumours in chest, who would otherwise neglect to goto hospital for check up. “Now what we did is, we have volunteers in one district — Warangal,” Sri Swamiji said. In one day, Vikasa Tarangini screened 101 women for both breast and lung cancer, he said, and 18 of the screenings came out positive for breast cancer. “We taught them what the cancer is, and how to find out which parts will be damaged initially from the cancer,” Jeeyar said. courtesy: http://www.nwanews.com/adg/News/205616/ |
