With the noble mission of instilling faith on Deity (vigraham) of Supreme Lord, Paramahamsa Parivra:jaka A:cha:rya Sri Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swa:miji has been organsing Sri Ve:nkate:swara Sarana:gathi Deeksha for the last 2 years. This deeksha is practised during Ma:rgazhi (dhanur ma:sam) month, and this year it starts on December 15th and continues up until 14th of January 2008(Go:da Kalya:nam).

Swa:miji explained the significance of the deeksha during the morning theerthha go:shti on Sunday at JET domalaguda, Hyderabad. Usually people think they goto temple to see god, and forget that the same Lord is there in their own home in the form of Deity. As it is explained in various scriptures, any deity of the Lord whether it is in temple or at home, whether is made up of metal or wood or some other substance, is supreme in power without doubt.

Many people thronge to temples ignoring the fact that the the same Lord is present at their own homes. During Sarana:gathi deeksha, congregational worship of the deity of the Lord, knowing the history of the Paragon of Lord Ve:nkateswara in Thirumala, and reading the stories of great devotees of the Lord, helps us to develop faith on the Deity.

In temples, there is one Deity in the sanctum santorium, and also other Deities that come in Procession into the streets to bless the Lord. We should understand that both the Deities are equally powerful, so also, even a Pendant of Lord that we wear is as powerful.

Swa:miji gave a beautiful anology between Deity in the temples and our own homes. We have light in our home, and we have light in the street. Light in the home is only for individuals of the home, but street light is for all people. In the same manner, temples are there for the purpose of all, whereas Deity at home is for our family. And hence, keeping temples in proper shape is everyone's responsibility.

Temples are supposed to educate us about how we can worship the Deity at our own home. It is essential that we make sure that the temples act that way. During dhanurma:sa Ve:nkate:swara Saranagati deeksha, we develop faith on our Lord. However, the four weeks of deeksha is only for learning, but it should not construed as meant for only four weeks. After the deeksha period also, we need to continue the practises we learnt during the deeksha.
