Women should wake up prior to sun rise.
|

On days such as Ekadasi, Amavasya, Alwar Acharya Thirunakshathrams, festivals, Pitru dinams (days to do rituals for Paramapadavasis) women must certainly take head bath. On the other days when only normal body bath is taken, you should sprinkle turmeric water on free hairs.

After taking bath, women should wear DRY clean clothes (Madisar saree) and sport Urdhva Pundram on forehead while memorizing the Lord with pure heart. Then only should attempt to do daily worship ritual or preparing Prasadams.

Chanting the holynames of the Lord and Thayar, one should start applying Thiruman (naamam)

When women wear Urdhva Pundram, first Sri Churnam should be applied (red line). From the middle of two eyebrows to the top tip of forehead, Sri Churnam has to be applied. Not touching the Sri Churnam line, a ‘v’-shaped Thirumani (white) has to be applied between two eyebrows. |

After wearing Urdhva Pundram, women should anoint turmeric to their feet.

When there are male members in the family, men only should perform daily worship rituals. Women should assist in arranging items for worship, preparation of Prasadams (offerable foods). When men are not there, women can also do Thiruvaradhana (daily worship)

All the items used for Thiruvaradhana must be arranged prior to the start of the rituals. It is not prescribed to move here and there after worship started. Thulasi, flowers, Naivedyams and everything else required for thiruvaradhanam must be arranged before start of worship.

How to prepare Theertha Podi: green camphor (paccha Karpuram), Elaichi (cardamom), cloves, Nutmeg (jajikaya), mace (japatri) should all be powdered together.

While lighting lamp, two seamless threads of cotton should be twisted and used as one wick.

For Deeparadhana, cow ghee or sesame oil or coconut oil are allowed. Cow ghee is best suited.

Perumal should be decorated with flower garlands, and it is best to keep a lamp on both sides of Lord.

Women should always keep track of stock of ingredients required for Thiruvaradhana. She should promptly make sure all necessities are there.

In the mornings and during sandhya times, one should not sleep. |

Immediately after husband has left home, wife should not broom house immediately, or dry clothes outside immediately.

Lamp infront of Perumal should be lighted atleast by the time husband leaves home.

In the morning Brooming (cleaning) should be done first inside the home, then outside. And in the evening, brooming should be done outside first, and then inside.

Brooming Should not be done either during or after Sandhya (intermediate time between day and night in the evening). Prior to sandhya, outside the entrance of the house should be broomed, sprinkled with water (mixed with a little turmeric or cow dung). With Rice flour rangavallis, the entrance should be decorated.

It is prescribed to light a lamp during evening Sandhya.

For the sake of Perumal only mother Thulasi and flower plants should be grown in the house-garden.

Daily Mother Thulasi should be worshipped. Thulasi leaves that are used for daily worship should not be taken from the worshipping plant. For this purpose another thulasi plant should be separately grown. Daily, infront of Worshipping Thulasi plant, water should be sprinkled and decorated with rangavallis.

One should not walk dragging the legs and making sounds. |

Women should not leave hairs untied, hairs should always be braided.

Whatever household work is being done, one should chant the holy names of Bhagavan. While cooking, if the lady chants holynames of Srimannarayana, the cooked foods will have a positive influence on the family members who eat them.

Without bathing, it is not prescribed to enter kichen. |
|
To the extent possible, one should try not to hurt or reject any one. |
|
It is not in the tradition for the women to directly touch or worship Salagramams. Only idols are generally used in the worship of women. |
|
In leisure times, women should spend time in attending Kalapshekams, reading Sampradayic literature, writing Sri Rama koti, or chanting Vishnu Sahasra Namams or Divya Prabandams. |

Keep mind always focused on the ways to Serve Lord, how to decorate Him, etc. In the evenings, one should goto a nearby Sri Vaishnava temple, participate in Perumal Uthsavams, participate in Kainkaryams such as garland making. |

The guests and Bhagavathas should be treated well. |
|
It is best to worship mother cow every Friday if not daily. |
|
Cow Ghee and Cow milk are preferred in prasadam preparations. |
|
With neighboring women, congregational chanting of Vishnu Sahasranamam etc are preferred. |
|
During the festival times, it is a good habit to invite Vaishnavas home and do Tadeeyaradhana (serve prasadams). |
|
Atleast one drop of Cow Ghee should be served in the Thadeeyaradhana. |
|
When we goto Temple, we should carry with us some flowers or fruits. We should not goto temple empty handed. |
|
Once in a while, we must plan for Divya Desa Yathra (pilgrimage of Holy Shrines of Vishnu). |

The Koil Alwar (house temple) can be best placed either in the north-east or north-west side of home. Wherever is Perumal placed, He should be able to see the whole house. |

During menstruous time, women should not touch anyone or anything in the home. |

The Urdhvapundram box for perumal and us should be separate. |

Everything we eat should be prasadam. only after offering food to God, we can partake that. |

The pots for cooking, the pots used for serving should be different. Even they should be washed seperately. |

Women should not wear black stones in Mangala Suthram.
