Thiruneermalai divya desam’s IrAppaththu 8th day (KoodArai Vellum) celebrations will take place from 2.00 PM on Thursday, January 12th 2012. The detailed agenda is given below.

2.00 PM to 4.00 PM – Thirumanjanam
4.00 PM to 6.00 PM – sAththupadi
6.00 PM to 6.15 PM – Paramapada vAsal sEvai
6.15 PM to 7.00 PM – Thiru Veedhi PruppAdu
7.00 PM to 8.00 PM – ThiruvAimOzhi 8-aam Paththu Seviththal
8.00 PM to 9.00 PM – sARRumurai

In this divya desam, Śrī Ranganathar can be worshipped in a posture with Divine senkOl. The standing posture (neervannar) similar to Tiru-NaRaiyur, the sitting posture of Sri Narasimhar (similar to TiruvAli), the reclining posture (similar to TirukkuDanthai) and the walking posture (similar to TirukOyilUr) is a unique combination here.

Tirumangai AzvAr glorifies this divya desam as follows:
அன்றாயர் குலக்கொடியோடு அணிமாமலரிமங்கையொடு அன்பளவி அவுணர்ர்க்கு
என்தானும் இரக்கமிலாதவனுக்கு உறையுமிடமாவது-இரும்பொழில்சூழ்
நன்றாயபுனல் நறையூர் திருவாலி குடந்தை தடம்திகழ் கோவல் நகர்
நின்றான் இருந்தான் கிடந்தான் நடந்தாற்க்கிடம் மாமலையாவது நீர்மலையே

The attitude of Tirumangai AzvAr is unfathomable. He overlooked TiruninRAvUr and on request gave one pAsuram for that perumAL. He was furious at Tiru-indhaLur perumAL at the Lord for temple being closed when Azvar reached. In sharp contrast, It is believed that AzvAr waited for six months in Tiruneermalai Divya Desam for the waters to recede. The hill on which AzvAr stayed is said to be AzvAr malai. Over and above this, AzvAr has spoken of this divya desam in his prabhandham s repeatedly.
